I am Sadie Carr, a sophomore Elementary Education major, as well as a cheerleader, track member, choir member, PR squad member, songfest rep, and tutor! I am someone who loves to be involved and looks for every opportunity to be a part of any activity on campus! One thing I wish I learned sooner... was that my mental health is VITAL to my success. I am currently a junior here at York College in Nebraska, and honestly this semester has been the toughest one yet. Before continuing your read, you should know that I am a very busy woman on campus. I’ve learned the hard way how important mental health is regarding balance in my own life. PLEASE, don't make the same mistakes as me.

Wow… who would have thought that the best four years of my life would have come from living in a small town like York, Nebraska? Well, do I have a story for you…

Along with being a part of the Campus PR Squad for York College, I also work for the Residence Life team. I originally wanted to become a resident assistant (RA) because I was looking for a way to get closer to people on campus. My freshman year, I never really left my room and I hardly knew anyone’s name. But, after joining the Res Life staff my sophomore year, I can honestly say that I have grown as a person. So, I'm here to talk a little more about how getting involved in Residence Life has helped me grow.

As an incoming freshman, I wish I knew what I know now. Over the course of my two years at YC I’ve picked up quite a few tips that could come in handy for you, as it has for me. Most of my time was spent around campus or in Thomas hall (girls dorms) so here are some tips that will make your life a little bit easier:

What’s good with it? Its ya boyyyy Trello V, and I finna drop some move in day knowledge on you ! Now I like to think of myself as kind of like a moving specialist. Being that in the last six months I’ve moved three times…. Yes, three times, but this isn’t about me and my moving habits. Sooo on to the tips

I was so scared to move into my dorm at first. I only live 20 minutes from my college, but I still needed to find a way to make my home not so far away. The transition from home to college doesn’t have to be as dramatic as it seems. With a few simple additions to your dorm room, it can be transformed into a perfect home away from home.

Some of my proudest purchases for my dorm room include my mattress pad, carpet, and fan (some major game changers in the dorm world). But, I have some even simpler dorm room accessories that will make your room feel like HOME.

You know that feeling when you’re in class and the teacher asks you if you have any questions, but you’re so lost that you don’t even know how to put words together and form a valid question? That’s how I felt when meeting professors and financial aid workers on my college visits…
