Last night I got to experience the dress rehearsal of Songfest. I love that so many of our students, probably 25% or more of the student body, are involved in this production. What I love about the most is the ways it impacts the culture of the campus. Students are extremely tired right now. Students in the show have a lot of responsibilities, studies, some are in performing arts, some are athletes. The tiredness they feel now will not be remembered in a few weeks. What will be remembered is the crazy times they had during rehearsal, being "simpled out" after a late rehearsal. Going out to celebrate as a club after Songfest is over. I talk to alumni all the time who remain bonded because of times like these that have cemented friendships, often with people they probably wouldn't have met or formed relationships with under other circumstances.
Those of us who are alumni will forever be indebted to this place that gave us opportunity for lives of service and consequence, for friendships that will never end, and for a relationship with our God that has changed who we are. Go Panthers!
