Moleskin is a wonderful thing. If you aren't aware of it, it provides a protective cover for wounds, blisters or "hot spots," especially on your feet. We currently have about 75 athletes on campus for preseason workouts ahead of school starting this weekend. It is exciting to see them interact, grow together as a team, and start to experience the York College culture. As they go through the workouts, many of them are not used to three practices a day and start to rub blisters on their feet. We went and got moleskin for them yesterday and showed them how to use it to protect their sore spots. Moleskin protects. You leave it on until it basically falls off, often for several days or maybe a week. When it comes off, you have grown new skin under it, tougher than the damaged skin it replaces.
Many of these students are here for the first time. Some of them are getting rubbed in ways they don't recognize and aren't used to. They will develop "sores" and "hot spots" that need healing and will cover them up. But underneath, new "skin" will be growing and they will emerge stronger and more equipped to handle life. I am seeing so much change in the few students that are here early that I can't wait to see what the year brings for York College. God is truly blessing us through the lives of our students. Go Panthers!
