The York University Theatre Department is excited to announce the upcoming performance
of the drama 12 Angry Jurors.
Based on the 1957 film 12 Angry Men, the play follows a group of 12 jurors tasked with deciding whether or not a boy
is guilty of killing his father—if he is guilty, the boy will receive a death sentence.
All but one of the jurors agree that this is an open-and-shut case: the boy must be
guilty. As the group attempts to come to a unanimous decision, each juror must wrestle
with the responsibility of deciding whether the boy will live or die.
Audiences will be able to experience the characters’ stories unfolding from all angles,
as 12 Angry Jurors will be staged in-the-round: actors will gather around a set consisting of a single
table, with audience seating surrounding them on all sides. “It’s been fun doing something
different, in a different style,” Director John I. Baker III said. Baker, YU’s associate
professor of communications and theatre, is in his 29th year with the university.
Performed by a mix of students, staff, faculty and friends of YU, the 12 jurors will
be played by Danielle Deal, Jason Dopps, Addison Harrold, Alex Harwell, Leanna Hawley,
Joseph Hobbs, Megan Johnston, Pam Miller, Sidney Richie, Jay Roberts, Dr. Darrel Sears
and Faith Torstensen, with the part of Guard played by Terry Dilliard.

“Every single cast, crew, and tech member is working to make sure this show turns out exemplary!” Joseph Hobbs of Ogallala, Neb., said.
Make plans to see the show in the Bartholomew Performing Arts Center on YU’s campus February 19–22, with performances at 7:30 p.m. Thursday–Saturday, along with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Doors will open half an hour before each performance. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online.
