York University has made great strides in making a private, Christian college education more affordable through the Panther Promise, a program that covers full tuition for eligible students through a combination of grants, scholarships and university support.
Starting with the 2027-28 academic year, the Panther Promise is available to eligible incoming undergraduate students who qualify for a Federal Pell Grant and who meet the program’s household income guidelines.
“Families often assume a private Christian education is out of reach before they’ve explored their financial aid options,” said Collin Tucker, director of financial aid at York University. “The Panther Promise helps eligible students have their tuition fully covered, and our team is here to walk families through the process and explain what that means for their individual situation.”
President Timothy Westbrook adds, “The Panther Promise is York University’s commitment to helping all students achieve a private, Christ-centered education. We are excited about this new pathway for many high school students across the United States to benefit from our financial investment in them.”
The Panther Promise includes tuition and textbooks by applying federal, state grants and applicable scholarships. York University then provides the Panther Promise Grant for the remaining eligible tuition balance. Under the Panther Promise, students remain responsible for fees, room and board; however when available, additional financial aid may help with these expenses depending on the students’ individual financial aid packages.
Interested students should contact York University’s financial aid team to learn more about whether they qualify for the Panther Promise. Income limits vary by family size and financial aid year. Students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and to apply for admission to York University, using the school code 002567.
