Recently, several YU students competed in state-level competitions at the Nebraska Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Collegiate State Leadership Conference. Hosted on April 2-3, in Kearney, Neb., the annual conference offers students from colleges and universities across the state an opportunity to network, attend leadership workshops and compete in events testing their business knowledge and skills.

Thirteen members of the York University FBLA chapter, formally known as PBL, attended the state conference. The chapter represented the university well and received multiple awards for its competitive events and leadership activities including several top-five finishes.

Giovanni Froldi, a graduate student from Campinas, Brazil, was honored with a Who’s Who in Nebraska FBLA Collegiate recognition and awarded the Bronze-Level Excellence Award from the State of Nebraska FBLA Collegiate organization. Froldi serves as the YU chapter president as well as the vice president of finance for the Nebraska State FBLA Collegiate chapter.

Other YU students participating in the conference were Diego Rubio Asin, Logan Brown, Jose Calderon, Isaiah King, Diego Korol, Alexandre Motta, Wagner Simoes do Nascimento, Carlos Ortega, Morgan Peterson, Julie Tremaine, Felipe Venegas and Trevor Spence.

“I am so proud of what the business club has accomplished,” shares Dr. Shannon Leinen, chair of the Levitt School of Business. “And I’m proud of our representatives at the State Leadership Conference. It is amazing to see how our students apply what they have learned in our B.B.A. and Masters of Organizational Leadership programs. They are prepared for the business world, they can apply their knowledge, and that's what we strive for in the E.A. Levitt School of Business.”

The top state winners are eligible to compete at the FBLA Collegiate National Leadership Conference scheduled for June 22-25 in Atlanta, Georgia.
