The Celebration Singers are directed by Amy Fraser, assistant professor of music. YC junior Tommy Eckhart is the assistant director for this production. Em Hyberger and Eckhart also assisted with choreography.
Developing the show has been a collaborative effort, with some creative differences. “Tommy chose the theme last summer while he was in the mountains,” said Fraser. “When he presented it to me, we both went totally opposite directions with the show. But, it evolved over time with the planning process.” This year’s Celebration Singers cast includes Caitlyn Trower, Madeline Martinez, Stella Newman, Adrianna Sotolongo, Breanna Bembenek, Emma Seilstad, Em Hyberger, Kellie Fredendall, Myya Maxwell, Paul Afamasaga, Simon Nabb, Joshua Anderson, Asa Coppinger, Justus Coppinger, Nathan Clark, Chris Martens, Conrad Morris, and Tommy Eckhart. Austin Hackel helps with piano accompaniment. Hayden Brown will be a featured performer for the show. He will provide ASL signing for every group number, while the rest of the Celebration Singers sing. When asked about the significance of adding sign language to the show, assistant director Tommy Eckhart stated, “Raising your voice doesn’t necessarily mean being loud or speaking.” This inspiring show featuring choreography and upbeat music will provide entertainment and inspiration for audience members of all ages. The show will encourage you to, “be proud of who you are. Be okay with your personal voice,” said director Amy Fraser. “It’s okay to be who you are and it's important to listen to each other, no matter how loud or how quiet the voice.” ~By Chris Martens Student Writer Comments are closed.
