York College welcomed several hundred guests to campus over its annual Homecoming
and Panther Days weekend, October 23-25. Alumni returned to campus to relive their
great college memories, while prospective students and their families visited to see
all that York College has to offer.
The weekend schedule was extra busy including the theatre department’s Don’t Drink the Water, alumni chapel, a choir concert, the last home volleyball match of the season, a crowd-pleasing first men’s basketball game of the year, and a free concert by Remedy Drive. The weekend also featured the York College Athletic Hall of Fame induction of Coach Paul Touchton '61, basketball star Tyrone Grady '02, and the national champion 1990 men's soccer team.

The dedication ceremony for the Bartholomew Performing Arts Center on Friday afternoon
was a bonus for visiting alumni and high school students. On hand for the ribbon
cutting was former president of YC Gary Bartholomew and his wife Gwen as well as other
family members, friends, and many from the York community. Those in attendance were
also treated to an open house of the facility which is slated for a January completion
date.
Despite the early hour for Homecoming Chapel, it was well attended as Dave Hawley ’72 entertained with great stories of his days on campus - before he was a YC student and during his two years as a panther. He was followed by a moving Concert Choir performance which included alumni joining students on the risers for the traditional closing songs. Following the concert, Dickie ’64 and Onita (Touchton ’65) Hill were honored as Alumni of the Year, and Brad Reischl ’99 was recognized as Young Alumnus of the Year.
During halftime of the men’s basketball game in which they defeated Yellowstone Christian 103-69, the York College Homecoming Court was introduced. Pictured above are this year's king and queen: Nolan Henningson, a senior theatre and vocal music performance major from Oberlin, Kans., and Nicole Gates, a senior psychology major from Centennial, Colo. Nolan has been an active member of the Concert Choir, Celebration Singers, the Drama Department, Speech Team, Alpha Chi, and Alpha Psi Omega. He currently serves as the President of Sigma Tau social club and is a student director for Songfest. Nicole is a member of the volleyball team, the Concert Choir, and Theta Psi social club. She serves as a Kiplinger R.A. and is involved in Student Association. Nolan and Nicole were both part of the LST Taiwan team this summer.
Senior candidates for queen were Anela Auala of West Plains, Mo., Melanie Baxa of Tobias, Neb., Eryn Jacobson of Fordland, Mos., and Lindsay Jones of Windsor, Colo. King candidates were Brandin Fry of Winslow, Ark., Matthew Gastineau of North Platte, Neb., Grayson King of Papillion, Neb., and Brad Lindsley of Bakersfield, Calif. Attendants honored from the freshmen class: Trey Van Treeck of Lincoln, Neb., and Madison Kinney of Council Bluffs, Iowa, sophomores: Grady Johnson of Great Falls, Mont., and Taylor Abraham of Buffalo, Mo., and juniors: Bryce Tyler of Lincoln, Neb., and Molly Reyes of Corona, Calif.
