York College welcomed several hundred guests to campus over its annual Homecoming and Panther Days weekend, October 21-23. Alumni returned to campus to relive their great college memories, while prospective students and their families visited to see all that York College has to offer.

​The weekend schedule was extra busy including the Homecoming golf scramble, theatre department’s outstanding musical The Secret Garden, alumni chapel, a choir concert, volleyball match, a crowd-pleasing first men’s basketball game of the year, and a free concert by Shonlock. The weekend also featured the York College Athletic Hall of Fame inductionof three legends in YC basketball: Dr. Bill Pink '87, Misty (Wellman) Brestel '02, and Ashley (Wellman) Waldrep '07. See the video

The dedication ceremony for the Touchton Clubhouse on Saturday afternoon was a bonus for visiting alumni and high school students.  On hand for the ribbon cutting was Coach Paul Touchton as well as other family members, friends, and several of his former baseball players. See the video

Homecoming Chapel was well attended as Dr. Pink gave the early morning’s address recounting a few stories of his days as a panther. He was followed by a moving Concert Choir performance which included alumni joining students on the risers for the traditional closing songs. Following the concert, Dr. R. Wayne White ’63 was honored as Alumni of the Year, and Lanny Gridley ’98 was recognized as Young Alumnus of the Year.

During halftime of the men’s basketball game in which they defeated Barclay College 115-91, the York College Homecoming Court was introduced. Pictured above are this year's king and queen: Bryce Tyler, a senior communication major from Lincoln, Neb., and Renee Wubbenhorst, a senior elementary education major from Blue Springs, Mo. Senior candidates for queen were Courtney Lovelace of Lake Elsinore, Calif., Bre Goben of Omaha, Neb., and Delaney Woods of York, Neb. King candidates were Dalton Bergstrom of Funk, Neb., Corey Holmes of Littleton, Colo., and Justin Hukill of Fallbrook, Calif. Attendants honored from the junior class: Grady Johnson of Great Falls, Mont., and Shania Brown of Chappell, Neb., sophomores: Dylan Odom of York, Neb., and Cassidy Wilson of Oklahoma City, Okla., and freshmen: Garrett Ewing of Liberty, Mo., and Kendall Fike of Ada, Okla.
