The 4x800 meter relay team of Mason Held (FR/West Fork, Ark), Matthew Gastineau (SR/Hershey, Neb), Brennan Jarvis(JR/Colorado Springs, Colo), and Caleb Magner (SO/York, Neb), is working hard as to prepare for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

The team currently has the 15th fastest time in the country of 7:47.38. "These four men truly do represent the best of what York College has to offer,"  said Jared Stark, VP for athletics and enrollment. "Each of these guys has a great story at YC. Matt and Brennan are upperclassmen who have really shaped our program's history. Matt was selected as York College's Male Student Athlete of the Year. The younger guys, Mason and Caleb, have the ability to qualify nationally in a number of events in the future."

"We are really excited about this group. Collectively they are so fun to be around and very hard workers," continued Stark. "Coach Carver has spent a lot of quality time developing these men as athletes and examples of our mission. We're very excited for them and know they'll represent us well."

This foursome is the team that ran the school record time at the Jim Dutcher Memoria in Crete, Neb. on Apr. 22.

Coach Justin Carver and the team will head down to Alabama early next week. The team will run in the trials on Thursday, May 26. The top eight teams will then move into the finals on Friday night.

Coach Carver is very excited about the national appearance. "The guys are working hard and looking good. This group of young men have had an incredible indoor and outdoor season," he said. "We have strived to get better everyday and have one more chance on the big stage to prove just how good we are. I'm extremely proud of these young men and what they have accomplished this season. I wouldn't trade these athletes for any in the world. They are excited to represent the program and school at the NAIA Outdoor Championships. Kia Kaha!"
