Kitra Cody, a senior at Cody-Kilgore High School in Cody, Nebraska, has signed a letter of intent with York College to participate in Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), the competitive student business organization, beginning in the fall of 2018. Cody is the first student to receive a PBL scholarship at York College. The award is based on her leadership within FFA and includes specific expectations of involvement within PBL.

Cody is the daughter of Sherry (Schuman ‘88) and Tom Cody. She is an active and highly successful student, involved in National Honor Society, FFA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, 4-H, cheer, basketball, drama, speech, choir, and youth advisory council. Cody plans to major in business and participate in choir and theatre at York College.

PBL is a national organization whose mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. The York College chapter of PBL is sponsored by Thrivent Financial and led by Assistant Professor of Business Tim Lewis.

“It is wonderful to have these scholarship dollars available to offer to students focusing specifically on business,” said Lewis.

“We are excited to have Kitra as a part of PBL,” echoed Assistant Professor of Agribusiness Stacie Turnbull, who organizes FFA conferences at York College. “She will be a great asset to the group and will bring her competitive spirit and leadership skills to campus.”
