UPDATE 12/9: All performances for Cocoa and Carols are sold out. Thank you for your patronage!

The York College Celebration Singers will perform their annual Cocoa and Carols program December 8 through 11. This year’s show is “Christmas Memories: A Family Portrait.”

This family-friendly production will feature secular and sacred Christmas music with choreography and dialogue. Performances of the high-energy show will be held in the Bartholomew Performing Arts Center (1026 E 10th St.) on the York College campus. Admission is $5 and includes cocoa and cookies.

Show director Amy Fraser, assistant professor of music, encourages would-be attendees to reserve a ticket early, as this show has sold out for the past several years. Performances on December 8, 9, and 10 will be at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, December 11, the performance will be at 2 p.m.

Seating begins 30 minutes prior to performance.

Patrons will be seated at tables during the performance and will enjoy complimentary cocoa and cookies, generously provided again this year by Helping Hands for York College, a women’s auxiliary group. Fraser notes that the audience will have the chance to participate, as there are sing-along parts in the show.

Two of the songs will be sung a capella, including a vocal jazz version of Jingle Bells performed by a sextet. Other numbers will include traditional holiday fare such as Rudolph and Susie Snowflake.

The show will feature talented students performing a variety of solo and ensemble numbers, including beloved Christmas favorites. The cast includes: Colby Smith, Gabrielle Siebenaler, Dani Palensky, Marissa Bressler, Olivia Nabb, Aubrey Tate, Lydia Kirchhoff, Fallon Grady, Darrien Gomez, Caleb Magner, Cameron Merrill, Moses Guillen, Tommy Eckhart, Conrad Morris, Grady Johnson, Corey Holmes, Josh Anderson, and Peyton Horton.

Several student performers are also involved in the production of the show. Colby Smith assistant directs; Gabrielle Siebenaller is the choreographer; Aubrey Tate is the costume designer; and Dani Palensky is the hair and makeup designer.

Fraser wishes to acknowledge Cocoa and Carols’ corporate sponsor Cornerstone Bank for their tremendous support of the arts at York College.
