![]() Nick DiToro '78 has transitioned from his role in the York College Advancement Office to faculty. He began the transition this fall with part time teaching and became a full time assistant professor of business in the spring semester. DiToro earned undergraduate degrees at York College and Oklahoma Christian University. He earned an MBA from Indiana Northwest and is currently working on a PhD in Human Capital at Bellevue University. He was a certified public accountant and has many years of experience in the field of accounting, including work as an auditor, supervisor, and controller. He has served at York College in the Advancement Office since 2009 as senior development officer. Prior to that, he worked for several years for Schultz Lewis Children's Home as a development officer. ![]() York College has announced the finalists for its most prestigious academic financial award, the Presidential Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to one incoming freshman each year and recognizes academic achievement as well as high moral character. Finalists for this award are Marissa Bressler (Lake Benton, Minn.), Mattea Reeb (Marana, Ariz.), Hannah Anderson (York, Neb.), Alexis Martens (Alden, Minn.) and Austin Hackel (Broken Bow, Neb.). To be considered for this award, students must meet high academic standards as well as submit written essays and other application materials. Top candidates are invited to campus for interviews to determine the recipient of the President’s Scholar. All finalists will receive the Dean’s Scholarship.The Presidential Scholarship recipient will be announced in the coming weeks. ![]() All are invited to attend a free performance of the York College Concert Choir on Sunday, January 24 at 6 p.m. The concert will be held in the auditorium of the East Hill Church of Christ (1122 Delaware Ave, York).During the recent winter break, the choir toured from Wyoming to Missouri performing for audiences in six states. This Sunday they will present their touring repertoire for a home crowd. The concert will include sacred music in a variety of styles. One notable, crowd-pleasing piece is an arrangement of "Khumbaya" by Soweto Gospel Choir of South Africa. There is no cost for admission and no tickets or reservations are necessary. ![]() Matt and Bruce Wagner, Wagner Decorating and Isaiah’s Toybox have been given the first annual D. Mark Moore Entrepreneurial Spirit Award. The award, presented by the York College Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) Chapter and the York Chamber of Commerce, was established to recognize a York area business person from among chamber member businesses who has demonstrated one or more of the core characteristics of the entrepreneurial spirit: innovation, courage, commitment and service. Organizers of the award said it was established “to honor women and men in the York community that lead with vision, serve the needs of the community, provide unique and innovative products and services, and are committed to making York County a vibrant place of business enterprise.” ![]() York College broke into the top 10 of the NAIA Wrestling Coaches Top 20 Poll for the first time in school history as they moved up to the eighth spot. Previously the Panthers were ranked 11th in the nation but have moved up with impressive showings in their fall competitions. Willie Fox highlights the Panther team as he is currently ranked 2nd in the nation in the 149lb weight division. Jack Murphy (JR/Bakersfield, CA) is currently ranked 4th at 197lb. "This is a great recognition for York College and we're certainly going to work hard to live up to the ranking. The competition in this area is very tough on the NAIA level and any type of recognition of success does not come easy and needs to be worked for to attain. I like my guys and believe we've grown a lot this year and we'll continue to grow the rest of the season," stated Head Coach Ramon Diaz. |
