York College is pleased to announce the inductees of the 2015 Athletic Hall of Fame: multisport coach and player Paul Touchton ’61; basketball player Tyrone Grady ’02; and the coach and players of the 1990 men’s soccer team. These men will be inducted on Friday, October 23 at a luncheon event during Homecoming.

“I’m very excited about the new additions we are making this year,” stated Vice President of Athletics Jared Stark.

“Paul Touchton has left an obvious legacy here,” Stark said, referencing the new baseball clubhouse being built on campus that will bear Touchton’s name.

“Tyrone was an exceptional player and really put our men’s basketball program in the spotlight of the NAIA shortly after we became members,” Stark continued. “The 1990 men’s soccer team is the first ‘Team of Distinction’ we have honored in the Hall of Fame. It’s been 25 years since they brought YC our first national title, so this is a great time to recognize them as well.”

Tickets are now available for the Athletic Hall of Fame induction luncheon, to be held at the Holthus Convention Center with catering by Chances ‘R. Tickets may be reserved online or by calling (402)363-5607. Tickets are $25 and all proceeds from the event will support the athletic department at York College.

The 2015 Hall of Fame Inductees will be recognized during halftime of the men’s basketball game on Saturday, October 24, as well.

About the 2015 Hall of Fame Class

Paul Touchton ’61, was a basketball player during his years as student, but his impact was multiplied when he returned to York College in 1964 as a coach. He re-started the baseball program and also coached basketball and soccer. “Coach Touchton has blessed the lives of a legion of young men and women in his role as coach, faculty member and mentor,” says Touchton’s former player Gary Bartholomew ’67. “He is a significant figure in the lives of those of us who were privileged to play baseball, basketball, participate in his gym classes and/or live in Middlebrook Hall.”

Tyrone Grady ’02 had a phenomenal run while part of the men’s basketball team from 1998-2001. He was named MCAC Freshman of the Year and Honorable All-Conference. During his senior year was named to the NAIA Div. II Men’s Basketball All-American team. When he ended his career he became the program’s career scoring leader with 1,531 points. He also had 615 assists and 189 steals. Grady currently lives in Wichita, Kansas.

In 1990, Head Men’s Soccer Coach Brad Fisher led his team to the National Small College Athletic Association’s National Championship. After falling short the year before, the 1990 team took home the championship, the first in York College’s history. The 1990 national champions are the first Team of Distinction to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. The members of the team include: David Arledge, Adam Basic, Jeffrey Chapell, Mike Cleveland, David Crump, Mike Delaney, Chad Duvall, Mike Flaherty, Daniel Greene, Jeff Hamm, Matthew Helm, Vance Hollister, Chris Luther, Seth Mohorn, Bobby Morrow, Dave Odom, Dale Phillips, Adrian Rankin, Adam Reiser, Jeffery Ross, John Seaman, Chris Stott, Kris Vaudrey, and coach Brad Fisher.
