“Welcome to York College, where you can be involved in any and all activities that you aspire to be in!”
My YC experiences so far:
York Campus Ministries
Praise Jesus! I love my YCM group. I am so happy to have a group of girls to meet with on Sunday nights to brainstorm prayer ideas for YC.
My YC still to-do bucket list:
Study Abroad A bunch of my friends have been on the summer study abroad program that we offer and I can't wait to do it myself. www.york.edu/studyabroad.html
Songfest rep
Go Delta www.york.edu/songfest.html Dean’s List Last semester's Dean's list Songfest Hostess One of last year's solo performances
Speaking in Chapel
During the week, YC kind of stops what it's doing at 10am to enjoy the community that we live in. We sing a few songs, have a scripture reading and prayer, and then listen to a message of a student, staff or faulty member, or outside speaker. I have given a message as a part of Campus PR Squad, but I would love to speak on my own too. An example of Chapel at YC! Celebration Singers Celebration Singers is our equivalent to an auditioned show choir. They create a Christmas show, Cocoa & Carols, and a Spring show that changes theme every year. I would love to be apart of that family and grow as a performer with them. Cocoa & Carols 2017 Sing, Sing, Sing! 2018 Raise Your Voice 2019
Speaking at Devo
We have an optional Devotional every Wednesday evening, and I would love to speak at one before I graduate. It's just a time for students, staff, and faculty as a community to worship, listen to a message, and grow closer to God. Learn how to cook when I move into the apartments Students can move in to our on-campus apartments their junior year. The apartments have 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen... So I'm really aiming to use that kitchen more than just for storage. Conquer my fear of eating alone in the caf The cafeteria always has great food, but I always have to find other people to sit with me while I eat. One day, yeah I said it, one day... I will eat in the cafeteria by myself. And I will be okay with it!
Finally sing at an open mic night
We have an open mic night of songs, poetry, comedy skits, etc. in our campus coffee shop every semester. It's a really cute setting and I'd love to work through my nerves to sing at one. Be in a student directed One Act Our theatre communication majors get to direct One-Acts in the fall of their senior year. They're always great to watch, and I want to be a part of that.
WIN Syncfest
Syncfest. The biggest lip sync battle around. And I'm in it to win it! Children’s theater The YC Theatre Department has a traveling children's theatre group that rehearses and performs Tuesday and Thursday mornings. They get to travel around Nebraska performing to elementary schools and that's so cool!
Cross Country
I've done a little running on the track team. So, I want to give the whole Cross Country thing a try too! Cheer—Go Panthers! Definitely never done anything like this before. But, I'm excited to try this whole Cheer team dealio.
My mother (who is always right) says, “In life, you win some and lose some.” I may have all of these activities crossed off someday. OR I might not. If I don’t achieve all of these goals, I’ll always know that I tried my hardest and got the most out of my time at York College.
