Best Study Spots on Campus

I think as a student we can all attest that studying in our room is a bit distracting. That’s why I’m here to give you a few tips on places you can go to get your study on that are offered to you right here on campus.
I would have to say the best study spots for me are the quiet places. I’m the type of person who is easily distracted so I need a place where I can sit by myself and concentrate. Options that I enjoy are the Levitt Academic Resource Center aka The Library and The Spot.

The library
is where I spend most of my time. It offers lots of seating upstairs and downstairs, free coffee, and plenty of plug-ins for your electronic devices. Which comes in handy when your in the flow of things, listening to the right song and your phone is sitting on 2%. Yeah, you know that feeling don’t you? That’s where the Library comes in to save the day. Plus the book cases keep your eyes from wandering which allows you to do your work.

Another quiet place on campus is the SUCCESS Center. It’s in Middlebrook and it’s a place for people to go if they need just a mellow scene but you can also go to get tutoring help in a specific subject that you are struggling with. Now, something different about YC tutors is that they are students who have taken the course before and know exactly what you are going through and they are absolutely free to you. YC does not require you to pay for tutoring sessions like other school’s which is pretty cool. The SUCCESS Center hours are not as extended as other places on campus. I believe they close sooner (maybe 5?) compared to other places on campus.
Another thing to keep in mind is, are you the type of person that enjoys some noise and chatter while doing your homework? If so, The Spot is a great option. Friend groups go and spend their time on the couches or around the tables but the building (McGehee) does have an upstairs where most people go for some quiet study time too. The Spot also offers different kinds of seating to comfort you as you study, along with some board games to help you have a little fun. There’s even a coffee shop for your craving needs. It also stays open later than the library which helps those who still need some quiet study time.

My last option is a little more off the grid. I like to spend my time at Starbucks, cliche` I know, but it’s actually very quiet. Plus, on school nights, it’s really not that busy which makes it even better. They also extended closing time on Thursdays, to help those who need a little more time. This has helped me quite a bit. But I also understand not everyone has transportation so you can 1) find friends that are willing to carpool, 2) enjoy the resources that YC has to offer. They are all great, it’s just that I'm a girl and my mood changes every day 🤓 As a student of YC, there are many places to use as study spots and a lot of people willing to help with your studies. So, if you haven’t found the right place yet, maybe try one of these that I mentioned. Happy studying peeps!
