The inauguration of Dr. Sam A. Smith as president of York College will take place on the York College campus on September 24, 2021. Dr. Smith is the 21st president since the school's founding in 1890, and the third alumnus to serve as the chief executive.

Dr. Samuel A. Smith, a 1995 YC graduate, began his service as the 21st president of York College in July 2020. President Smith brings considerable experience in Christian higher education as well as youth ministry.

Dr. Smith started his career at Lipscomb University working as an assistant resident hall director and campus minister.   He later served as resident life director, associate dean of students and finally dean of student life. President Smith’s professional path also includes team-building and project management in both the academic and corporate settings. He holds a Doctor of Education Degree from Union University and completed the Master of Biblical Studies degree and Bachelor of Arts in Bible at Lipscomb University.
Sam met his wife, Lisa, while in college at Lipscomb University. Sam and Lisa have three children, Brooklyn, Bear and Boden.
