"Despite an onslaught of wintry conditions, JLC, Inc. continues to move renovations forward for Hulitt Hall, the oldest original structure on the York College campus. Renovation plans were designed to retain as much of the original floor plan as possible but a few changes were inevitable due to changing codes and building requirements."
Summer 2021 Update: The building has new windows, sills, and an addition to the east-side of the building that will become the main entrance as well as house an elevator. Currently, the bricks are being laid on the addition.
The floorplan will retain the original room layout wherever possible in an attempt to preserve the past, but the top floor is getting a true makeover. It is being redesigned to serve as a much needed conference and meeting space with the entire third floor dedicated for this purpose.
Project completion is slated for early 2022.
October 2021 Update: Plumbing lines are in, basic electrical is installed, elevator is installed, fire sprinklers have been added, exterior brickwork is basically complete and windows are almost done. The stain glass window has been added to the west side of the building. The roof is one step from being completed and sheetrock will be added soon, as well as the flooring contractors will begin shortly. The biggest project in progress is the "state-of-the-art climate control".
The Hulitt Hall renovations are to completed during the first half of this year. The drywall is up and there has been major progress made in installing the "state-of-the-art climate control".
