![]() 1969 was a big year. Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. The Beatles performed for the last time. 747s graced the friendly skies. For the first time, a student checked out a book in York College’s Levitt Library. Much has changed in the fifty years since Levitt’s doors opened, and it’s time to hit the ‘refresh’ button on this historic building with great bones that has served us so well. A $2.25 million dollar grant from the U.S. Department of Education and additional support by fantastic donors are paving the way for the next half century. Soon, Levitt Library will become The LARC - the Levitt Academic Resource Center. A one-stop-shop for books, student IT help, electronic resource access, research assistance, and academic support. A place to collaborate. A place to study. A place for community.
There’s a lot of nostalgia, a lot of enthusiasm, and a lot of thought wrapped up in this great big project. We plan to share it with you here over the next several years, so check back often for updates. It’s just too good to keep to ourselves! Comments are closed.
