Dr. Greg Stevenson is a professor of New Testament. His teaching focuses on biblical
interpretation, the world and culture of the Bible, and the intersection of Christianity
and popular culture.
He is the author/editor of five books, with the most recent being Theology and the Marvel Universe, Seeing the Apocalypse: Essays on Bird Box, and A Slaughtered Lamb: Revelation and the Apocalyptic Response to Evil and Suffering.
His research heavily focuses on two areas: the book of Revelation and Christianity
and popular culture, often combining the two by exploring the use of the book of Revelation
in popular culture. In the area of pop culture, he has published books or essays on
topics such as Gilmore Girls, Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, IT, the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, and Marvel and DC comics.
One of his favorite Bible verses is Revelation 1:8: “’I am the Alpha and the Omega,’
says the Lord God, ‘who is, and who was, and who is to come,’” because of the way
it reminds us that God has a plan for all of creation from beginning to end and that
he is faithful to that plan.
