A bit later father approached me in the parking lot of the dorm where his daughter was moving in and wanted to talk about his daughter's choice to come to York College. He said, "do your remember your discussion with my daughter when she visited." I admitted I did not and I apologized. If I am in town I visit with most of the students who visit campus and it is hard to separate those discussions. He replied, "not the visit in your office. But you showed up at her tryout and talked to her on the sideline" I vaguely remembered the situation. He said, " you told her, 'I know you have lots of interest and offers right now, but no one will love you more than we will.'" He said she made the decision then that YC was where she wanted to be. I am proud of YC and the care and compassion we show to students. Sometimes we fail to be as good as we can be, but you cannot claim that no one cares. The burden we carry here is not heavy, because we love the students who come here. Sometimes the relationship is rocky, as it is in all close families. It is that way because we really do care. The opposite of love is not hate, it is apathy. You can't find that here. Go Panthers!
