The 39th annual Songfest production was a crowd pleaser as about a fourth of the YC student body put their lives on hold during the spring semester to bring the Campbell Center to life. Under the direction of Mrs. Amy Fraser and student assistant Nolan Henningson, months of planning, designing, creating, and rehearsing went into the three-night event with its closing finale on Saturday night of the Panther Days weekend. Serving as emcees for the evening were Breanne Goben, Abby Gonzalez, and Troy Rowen.

This year’s hosts and hostesses were Taylor Abraham, Nathan Clark, Corey Holmes, Danielle Palensky, Grant Seufferlein, and Gabrielle Siebenaler.  The performers were tremendous in their roles and had a great mix of solos and group numbers.

Once again, the social clubs chose a wide range of themes and song selections. Audience members were able to experience All of Our Emotions with Omega Phi and Kingsmen and then took a trip Down the Rabbit Hole with Beta Beta Sigma and Koinonia. In the second act of Songfest, Delta Chi Alpha and Kyodai’s Battle of the Genders pulled out some dazzling moves and costumes, and then Theta Psi and Sigma Tau gave us a high energy show of twists and turns with The Midnight Boogie.

After Saturday night’s performance, clubs anxiously awaited with the audience to hear the judges’ tally of their three-night production. Beta Beta Sigma and Koinonia won Best Costumes and Best Theme while Sig Tau and Theta Psi took honors for Best Music and Best Choreography.  The 2016 President’s Award went to Beta and Koinonia for Down the Rabbit Hole while the coveted People’s Choice Award went to Theta Psi and Sig Tau for The Midnight Boogie.
