Students from Nebraska high schools and colleges, as well as community members are invited to hear oral arguments before the Nebraska Court of Appeals  on September 13 at York College in York, Nebraska.

The Court of Appeals College Campus Initiative includes open invitations to all students on campus plus college instructors and active outreach to high schools through the Nebraska State Bar Foundation’s Center for Law-Related Education. The court annually holds oral arguments on college campuses throughout Nebraska as a way of bringing the judicial branch to young people.

Students are furnished expanded case descriptions prior to viewing oral arguments and allowed a ‘question and answer’ session on court process and procedure following each panel argument session. Case summaries for upcoming arguments are available online.

The event will be held in the Bartholomew Performing Arts Center and is open to the public. There is no cost to attend, however, registration is preferred. You can register at www.york.edu/court. There will be two sessions the public may attend, beginning at 9:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. It is suggested that all attendees arrive 30 minutes prior to the session, as there will be a security screening. No one will be admitted into the auditorium once the sessions have begun.
