The York College Phi Beta Lambda chapter is ready to kick the new year off with some exciting upcoming events. The officers and active members are hard at work planning this year’s events, community service projects, fundraisers, and competitions for convention in the month of March.

On January 19, the York chapter presented the D. Mark Moore Entrepreneurial Award to local business Moguls Transmission and Towing. This prestigious award was presented by PBL president, Kaylee Becker; vice president Hannah Parker; and members Kevin Olmstead and Jaraad Salas. It was presented to Jeff Mogul, Ron Mogul, Sr., and Ron Mogul, Jr. at the York Chamber of Commerce annual banquet. Kaylee Becker stated that D. Mark Moore lived life “From passion and positivity to leadership and ambition, and those who have that same spirit do not fear risk in the face of greater reward.” This award is given to the York business that exemplifies the characteristics that Dr. Moore lived by.

In February, the York chapter will be hosting a community seminar on helpful interview tips. There will be different sessions and speakers teaching attendees how to be prepared for a job interview. This spring, there will also be a March of Dimes fundraiser to help premature babies and their mothers. The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. The York chapter is excited to help this great cause in any way possible.

In March the York College chapter will be traveling to the University of Nebraska at Kearney for state convention. In the coming weeks, members will be preparing for tests, presentations, and projects to take to competition with hopes of qualifying for nationals.

PBL’s mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. The York College chapter of PBL is sponsored by Thrivent Financial.
