Global Music at York College Presented By Grant from Nebraska Arts Council

York College has been awarded a grant by the Nebraska Arts Council to underwrite the program “A World of Music” by Todd Green on October 24. Green will perform for area elementary students on Monday afternoon and present a free demonstration and lecture about his instruments to general audiences on Monday at 7 p.m. This event is free.

There will be a public performance Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for the public performance are $10 and may be reserved here
. All performances will be held in the Bartholomew Performing Arts Center on the York College Campus.

“York College contributes a great deal to the advancement of arts in York, Nebraska,” said Nebraska Arts Council Executive Director Suzanne Wise. “We commend the work being done by organizations such as York College because the arts are important to the education and quality of life for all Nebraskans.”

A multi-instrumentalist with a global emphasis, Green performs original music on over 30 acoustic string, flute and percussion instruments from all over the world, inspired by many different cultures in the Middle East, Central Asia, Far East and South America. His custom-built electronic system allows him to layer instruments as he performs, which in effect turns him into a high-tech one-man-band of world music. His artistic mission is to "help bring down the barriers that divide us by experiencing other cultures through their music" as he takes his audiences on a musical armchair-tour of the world.
