Big Weekend in Athletics

It was a big weekend on the road for the YC Panthers. Over one hundred student-athletes, coaches, and managers were away from campus representing York College on the field, court, and mat — many of which were in the national spotlight.
Baseball
Baseball continued its early season success winning 3 out of 4 over the weekend. The Panthers have yet to play a home game and still have managed an impressive 9-3 start. On Saturday they swept Wayland Baptist 2-0 and 5-2 with winning pitchers, Aaron Conyers and Tyler Molder. The following day they split a doubleheader with Northwood University losing game one by a score of 2-1 and blitzing the Knights in the second game by a score of 11-2 with Thomas Korn as the winning pitcher.
Men's and Women's Basketball
Our basketball teams will both be competing in post season play this weekend despite going 0-4 over the weekend. For the first time in York’s history, the men’s basketball team finished the regular season as co-champions of the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference, sharing the title with Bellevue University. York is the top seed and will host the northern division of the tournament this weekend and Oklahoma Wesleyan will host the southern division. The MCAC Tournament begins this Friday night with York's first game against Haskell University. Should York win both games over the weekend, we will host the championship game on Tuesday, Feb. 26. The winner will represent the MCAC in the NAIA National Tournament.
The women's team will be the #4 seed in the MCAC tournament which begins on Friday at College of St. Mary's in Omaha.
Softball
Softball began the 2013 season on the road, winning their first game against Langston University 4-1 before three losses in a row to the Lions.
