YC athletes and teams lauded for GPAThirty-six YC students were recognized as MCAC Scholar-Athletes* for the GPA they earned during the fall semester. Additionally, four out of the five fall sports teams were recognized by MCAC for their team GPA (the Jerry Watson Award).** York College leads the conference for number of students that meet the criteria as MCAC scholar-athletes. *To be recognized as MCAC Scholar-Athletes, students must have a 3.25 cumulative GPA, be of sophomore status or greater and have completed the attendance of at least two terms at York College, and have participated in at least one intercollegiate contest sponsored by the MCAC. **Criteria for this award stipulate that winners must be varsity teams with a cumulative team GPA of 3.25 or higher based on the students’ cumulative GPA’s through the respective semester; All players who participate in at least one conference varsity game will be included in the team’s GPA average. This award is named in honor of Jerry Watson, former Faculty Athletic Represtative at College of the Ozarks who was tragically killed in a plane crash in the Fall of 1999. |
