York College Announces 2012 Alumni of the Year
Today, York College announced recipients of the 2012 Alumni of the Year awards. Honorees will be recognized during Homecoming alumni chapel at 9:30 a.m. in East Hill Church of Christ on Saturday, October 13.
Alumnus of the Year: David F. Lynn '74
David F. Lynn, CPA, is the president of Sequoia Consulting Group. He owns Northern Agri-Services, Production Sales Company, and Peck Manufacturing Company, all of which are based in Nebraska and provide equipment to farmers throughout the Midwest.
David is also an elder at the East Hill Church of Christ and serves on the York College Board of Trustees as the Treasurer and Chairman of the Finance Committee.
He has been blessed with great professional success, all of which can be attributed to his reliance on God and the three attributes he instills in all of his employees: honesty, integrity, and commitment.
Lynn graduated from York College in 1974 with an associate's degree in science. Very soon after, he married classmate Judy Layton ‘74. Judy, a homemaker, has been a vital part of David’s success. Their 38 years of marriage is a greater accomplishment than any professional benchmark.
In 1985, Lynn completed a bachelor’s degree in business at University of Nebraska Lincoln and in 1996 he became a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, a group which he remains a part of to this day.
Lynn’s resume is eclectic. He has worked in law enforcement, furniture manufacturing, rental property and motel management, going wherever the Lord led him and finding success there. He came back to YC in 1985 as the vice president of finance, eventually serving as interim president. For several years he was also a member of the York County Board of Commissioners.
Lynn formed Information and Resource Management, a government consulting firm, in 1990 and later moved to Indiana. Through several takeovers, David remained with the group until 2003 when he started a new venture: a consulting firm in York.
David and Judy have five sons: Travis, Joseph, Zachary, Sterling, and Benjamin.

Young Alumnus of the Year: Aaron Fletcher ‘02
Aaron Fletcher, Class of 2002, is an Assistant Professor of Biology at Dallas Baptist University.
A dedicated educator, Fletcher’s students say that they have been changed by his classes, as they garner a new appreciation for science and God’s creation. One former student noted that, “He is a servant leader who puts his students first. He goes above and beyond (to) educate his students.”
After graduating from YC, Fletcher earned a PhD in biochemistry from Colorado State University. As a graduate student, he received the Outstanding Teaching Assistant and Outstanding Research Graduate Awards from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
Following his doctoral studies, he went on to work at University of Texas Southwestern in the Molecular Biology Department as a research scientist in biomedical research.
Fletcher has worked as an independent consultant for the biotech/healthcare equity industry for over five years. Currently, he is the CEO and senior analyst of Bios Research, LLC, an independent research firm that provides monthly healthcare research for hedge funds and the investment advisor industry.
He is also serving as the chair-elect of the 1,600 member Dallas/Fort Worth section of the American Chemical Society.
Aaron is married to Holly (Eckstein ‘02). The couple have one daughter, Madeline, and are members of the Brookhaven Church in Dallas, Texas. Both Aaron and Holly support YC by serving as members of the President's Council.
