Conference Champs!

York College Track and Field Teams and Coach Win Big at MCAC Championship


The York College Women’s track and field team bested the competition at the MCAC Conference Championship, April 27 in Yukon, Okla., where they walked away with the trophy.

The men’s team also performed well and were conference runner ups.

Thrower Shaylee Carlock, a sophomore from Tourney, Mo., was named female athlete of the conference meet, based on her “total domination of her event,” says Coach Justin Carver. She was also conference event champion and 1st team all conference in the shot put and the discus throw.


Students weren’t the only ones to bring home accolades: Coach Carver was named Women's Track coach of the Year for the MCAC conference.

“Coach Carver really does an amazing job and his athletes are so respectful and appreciative of how hard he pushes them and how much he really loves them,” said YC Athletic Director Jared Stark.

The teams combined had 12 event champions and ten 1st Team All-Conference athletes.

  • Andrew Aragon: Conference event Champion, 1st team All conference in the Shot Put and Discus.
  • Kawika Pedrina: Conference event Champion, 1st team All conference in the 100- and 200-meter dash.
  • Marybeth Ester: Conference event champion 1st team All conference in the 200-meter dash.
  • Jade Hodge: Conference event champion and 1st team All conference in triple jump.
  • Kameryn Brewster: Conference event champion, 1st team All conference in the 1500 meters.
  • Karissa Austin: Conference event champion, 1st team All conference in the 800-meters.
  • Women’s 4x100 meter relay (Marybeth Ester, Liz Callaway, Jade Hodge, Ebony Carther) conference event champions, 1st team all conference.
  • Women’s 4x400 meter relay (Karissa Austin, Kameryn Brewster, Kristin Tuttle, Marybeth Ester) conference event champions, 1st team all conference.

Additionally, 13 student-athletes were named 2nd Team All Conference
  • Men’s 4x100 relay (Joe Madison, Danny Cunningham, Troy Kelly, Kawika Pedrina)
  • Men’s 4x400 relay (Darreon Collins, Sam Mwago, Warren Lannon, Dustin Campbell)
  • Aaron Beadle in the Shot Put
  • Ebony Carther in the 100-meters and the long jump
  • Sierra Trower in discus
  • Kayla struck in javelin
  • Patricia Robinson in shot put


Fourteen individuals on the team qualified for the NCCAA National Meet near Chicago, Illinois, May 4-5. Two York College athletes have currently qualified for the NAIA national meet. Those students are our top two shot put throwers, Andrew Aragon and Shaylee Carlock.
