Choir to perform Spring Works"An evening of Spirituals and Gospel Music" Ahead
The York College Concert Choir will perform their annual Spring Works Concert on Monday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be presented at First Presbyterian Church (4th and Delaware) in York. There is no cost for admission. The title of the repertoire is “The Soul Speaks: An Evening of Spirituals and Gospel Music.” Conductor Dr. Clark Roush, professor of music and endowed chair for the performing arts, says the students have loved rehearsing this spring’s material. The concert selections include accompanied and acapella pieces by well-known composers such as Moses Hogan and Rene Clausen.
The Spring Works Concert often features challenging classical works. Roush says that this lighter repertoire “is a different kind of important music that is very audience friendly.” He commented that audiences will likely appreciate that the concert is all in English. “The audience will really enjoy this genre,” he says. _________________ Click here for a link to a recording of the concert. |
