Free concert Saturday, ABENDCHOR to perform
Nebraska’s professional choir, ABENDCHOR, will perform a free concert on Saturday, March 3, in the York High School auditorium. The concert will begin at 7 p.m.
The group will perform the Nebraska premiere of Song of Hope, a profound, new composition by Cleveland composer Anne Wilson.
This multi-movement choral-orchestral work connects the Beatitudes with contemporary scenes, including the events of September 11, 2001; the integration of schools in Little Rock, Arkansas; a young boy's reflections from a World War II concentration camp; and inspired words of Carl Sandburg, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela and Dwight Eisenhower.
A 30+ voice children's choir from York, trained by Dr. Clark Roush and Amy Fraser, members of the York College music faculty, will be part of the event. Dr. Adrienne Dickson performs with ABENDCHOR and is also an adjunct music faculty member at YC. She teaches private voice lessons, vocal production, and diction.
ABENDCHOR is a company of world-class choral singers who gather in Lincoln as a professional chamber choir. This dynamic new chamber ensemble made its debut in 2011-2012 both on the Abendmusik: Lincoln Concert Series and on the subscription series of the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra.
