York College wrestlers place at regional meet, prepare for nationalsFour men from the York College wrestling team placed highly at the NAIA Central National Qualifier, hosted in Des Moines, Iowa, February 18.
Jake McCoy, a senior from Coos Bay, Ore., finished second at 165 pounds. Bradlee Carls, a junior from Bakersfield, Calif., finished third at 197 pounds, and Miles Negley, a junior from Wahoo, Neb., finished third at 125 pounds. Josh Lopez, a freshman from Bakersfield, Calif., placed sixth at 133 pounds. The York College team finished sixth out of 11 teams. Head Coach Ramon Diaz says he was pleased overall with the performance of the team. Diaz noted that many of the top wrestling programs in the nation are in the central region, so this event was especially difficult. Some of YC’s top wrestlers didn’t place, as they were up against the most outstanding wrestlers in the nation.
