Jake McCoy, a senior from Coos Bay, Ore., finished second at 165 pounds. Bradlee Carls, a junior from Bakersfield, Calif., finished third at 197 pounds, and Miles Negley, a junior from Wahoo, Neb., finished third at 125 pounds.

Josh Lopez, a freshman from Bakersfield, Calif., placed sixth at 133 pounds.

The York College team finished sixth out of 11 teams. Head Coach Ramon Diaz says he was pleased overall with the performance of the team. Diaz noted that many of the top wrestling programs in the nation are in the central region, so this event was especially difficult. Some of YC’s top wrestlers didn’t place, as they were up against the most outstanding wrestlers in the nation.

Eleven YC wrestlers have qualified for the national competition, March 1-3 in Des Moines. Diaz says he expects a great finish to the season in Des Moines, including at least two of his wrestlers to be named All-American.
