Enrollment Hits 507

YC enjoys third highest enrollment in its history

York College announced today that student enrollment has reached a twelve-year high of 507 students, representing a 6% increase over last fall. With a great recruiting season and a strong retention rate, the college is enjoying its third straight enrollment increase.

“At the beginning of the 2010 academic year we saw an increase of almost 50 students,” stated Willie Sanchez, Vice President for Admissions. “This year, our enrollment increased yet again. The continued growth was due, in large part, to the number of returning students. Our faculty and staff are to be commended for this great accomplishment as our retention rate has been consistently around 80% for the last three years.”

With a total enrollment of 507 students, only three short of the record set in 1999, York College continues to enjoy sustained growth and financial stability in tough economic times.

“It’s a pretty phenomenal swing in the course of a few years to have this kind of growth,” said Sanchez. "It takes a lot of dedicated work by a lot of people to make it happen. It is also a great testimony to our product. Students are attracted by a place where they are challenged to pursue a life of faith and they stay because they find a community that encourages them to pursue that goal.”

Highlights of 2011 contributing to YC enrollment growth:
      • 5 additional faculty hired
      • New degree in Chemistry added
      • Cheer & Pom squad started
      • JV athletic teams expanded
