NCCAA Outdoor Nationals
YC Sends Eight Qualifiers to National Outdoor Track Meet
On Thursday, May 5th, the York College Track and Field team will head to the Chicago area to compete in the NCCAA Outdoor National Championships. Eight athletes will represent York College at this competition. “These athletes have worked extremely hard, and it will be exciting to watch them excel at this meet,” said head coach, Justin Carver.
Sophomore Danny Cunningham and freshman Kawika Pedrina will be competing in the 100 meter dash. “As Thunder is to Lightening, is Danny's Power to Kawika's burst of speed,” said Carver. Red shirt junior Aaron Beadle and Shaylee Carlock, a sophomore will be competing in the Shot Put, and Disc. Carlock is coming off a big meet last week, performing a new personal best in the shot put.
Marrisa Maher, a sophomore will be competing in the Javelin after overcoming a knee injury last summer, and playing basketball most of the year.
Sophomore, Jordan Mestas will be competing in the 800 meters and Marybeth Ester, a red shirt freshman will compete in the 100, 200, and 400 meter dash. Freshman Karissa Austin will compete in the steeplechase.
“All of these athletes are a great representation of the York College Track and Field team and it will be a privilege to watch and coach them this weekend at the NCCAA National Outdoor Meet,” said Carver.
