Brent Smith and Kimberlee DeGroot honored
Jared Stark, York College Athletic Director announced the Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year. Scholar-athletes are selected based first on academic achievement followed by athletic performance and student involvement.
Brent Smith received the award for his performance both on and off the basketball court. Brent is a junior accounting major from Ponca, Nebraska and carries a perfect 4.0 GPA. "Brent's a guy that does everything right all the time; he's on time, he works hard, always competes and gets great grades, he's an awesome representation of what we want from our program," said Stark.
The female award winner is Kimberlee DeGroot. DeGroot is an English major from Bozeman, Montana. She is a middle-blocker on the Volleyball team and also carries a perfect 4.0 GPA. “DeGroot is a senior transfer student and is a positive influence to all those around her according to her,” said Meredith Rosenbaum, head volleyball coach. "Kimberlee is an awesome individual, and has tremendous impact on our team. She's a force in the middle at the net and she is a force in the classroom."
