Wyatt to Serve as Interim Academic Dean
by Sue Roush
President Steve Eckman recently announced the appointment of Dr. Tracey Wyatt to serve as interim Academic Dean beginning in the fall of the 2011 – 2012 academic year. “Dr. Wyatt brings a wealth of both academic and administrative experience and is extremely capable.” Dr. Miller has asked to be relieved of his responsibility as Vice President of Academic Affairs at the end of this academic year. “Dr. Ray’s leadership in this role will be missed. Thankfully, he is not going anywhere, but will be returning to the classroom on a full-time basis and will continue to help lead the College but from another vantage point,” Eckman continued.
Dr. Ray Miller has served the College for over 25 years in a variety of roles. “In his role as Vice President for Academic Affairs, his Christian spirit, his character and leadership helped guide the College through some tough times,” reflected Eckman.
Dr. Tracey Wyatt joined the faculty this fall as Associate Professor of Psychology. Originally from San Diego, California, Wyatt received degrees from Freed Hardeman University, Harding Graduate School and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. “I am honored to be asked to fill this interim position and humbled by the task before me. I am grateful for the years of faithful service by Dr. Ray Miller in the position of VPAA, and as Interim Academic Dean will work to serve York College with a fervent commitment to the cause of Christ. My thanks also to Ray’s faithful and dedicated wife, Gail, who encouraged him through some tough times in the position,” said Wyatt. He and his wife Marla have three children, Jesse, Lauren and Cody.
