YC to Honor Senior

Student-Athletes

 

York College senior student-athletes will be honored this coming Friday and Saturday evenings in the Freeman Center.  For their contribution to the women's basketball team, being honored are Ashley Calvin and Kristin Wiedemann.  Calvin is from Hays, KS and has provided strong scoring ability to keep the Panthers in contention for Conference Tournament while Wiedemann has done the same from her position in the middle.  Earlier this season, Wiedemann, from Yukon, Oklahoma, scored her 1,000th point as a York College student-athlete. 

For their contributions to the men's basketball  team, being honored are Justice Nall, a transfer big man from Henderson, Nevada, Justin Ward, a shooting guard transfer from Crowley's Ridge College, and Darren Best, a forward from Melbourne, Australia. 

Finally, on Saturday, the Wrestling program will honor Matthew Banta from Arkansas City, KS.  Banta, who qualified for Nationals last year as a Junior has wrestled at both 125 and 133 pounds for the Panthers and can still qualify for Nationals this year at the NAIA Central qualifying meet in Oskaloosa, Iowa later this month. 

Game times for Friday’s contests have the Lady Panthers beginning at 5:30 pm and the men at 7:30 pm.  The men’s wrestling match will be Saturday beginning at 7:00 pm.
