New Technology on Hand

Students get instructions on their new iPod touch

iPods touchRusty Ridley gives a few pointers to Arvada, Colorado junior Heath Schmalzried as he receives his iPod touch. As the Director of Information Services for York College, Ridley's hands will be full in the coming weeks as he gives crash courses to students and faculty who are unfamiliar with the device. It was announced in November of last year that the college was launching the initiative to equip every fulltime student with the power of the internet and technology at their fingertips.

"This will be a huge upgrade to how students get their information and the overall campus communication process," said Willie Sanchez, Director of Admissions. "Of course they're all interested in the music and movies that are available at a few touches on the screen, but this initiative really is about using today's technology in stepping up how we educate today's student."
