Price Freeze AnnouncedTuition, room, board, and fees holding steady for 2008-09
This semester it was announced that a price freeze for the upcoming academic year had been approved by the college's Board.
President Wayne Baker made the announcement to the York College student body at a morning chapel assembly. Simply put, there would not be an increase in their educational expenses for the upcoming academic year. 2008-09 prices will reflect figures from 2007-08.
Outlining the plan’s simplicity on the overhead screen, Baker stated, "Even though our utility costs and food expenses will surely increase over the ensuing months, we will seek additional gifts from our generous donors to meet these needs.”
The price freeze is across the board for York College. Tuition, room, board, and even the fees will mirror those of the current year, dollar for dollar.
As one of eleven members of the Nebraska Independent College Foundation (NICF), York College’s $18,500 for tuition and fees, room, and board was the lowest of other member institutions as Bellevue University reported a tuition-only figure. Baker was optimistic that this price freeze would also position York among the lowest total cost of other colleges and universities affiliated with the churches of Christ across the country.
“Our faculty will continue to offer a quality education while striving to honor God both inside and outside the classroom,” Baker said. Emphasizing the importance of Christian higher education, Baker made the comment that “…few choices have such life-changing impact.”
