Campus Visitation Week

Nebraska Independent College Week, April 14-18

Hundreds of prospective college students will descend on the campuses of the state's private colleges as part of Nebraska Independent College Week.  Earlier this year, Gov. Dave Heineman officially proclaimed April 14-18, 2008 as Nebraska Independent College Week and urged all high school students and their parents to personally visit the participating institutions this week to discover for themselves the quality of educational opportunities offered and the affordability of attending an independent college in Nebraska.

During this week, York College and the other 10 private colleges and universities that are members of the Nebraska Independent College Foundation (NICF) will waive application fees for students who visit their campuses.  Students are encouraged to visit as many campuses as possible.  Two orientation sessions will be held daily—one at 9:00 a.m. and a second at 1:30 p.m.  At the campus visits, students will learn about the institutions' varied academic, athletic and organizational offerings.  Campus tours and financial aid sessions will be available at all institutions.

All of the NICF member institutions provide generous scholarships and financial aid opportunities for high school students.  Their programs are characterized by close student-faculty relationships and mentoring, high four-year graduation rates, and opportunities for students to become involved in a wide variety of cocurricular offerings.

For more information about Nebraska Independent College Week, contact the York College Admissions Office at (402) 363-5627 or call NICF directly at (402) 339-1660.  NICF’s website can be accessed by going to www.nicf.andyou.ws, then entering the access code 9999.
