Mr. and Ms.
York College
Named
It is an evening where everyone
looks their best and a time for students, staff,
and faculty alike come together and celebrate the best
York College has to offer. The annual All-College
Banquet was held at the Stone Creek Event Center in
McCool Junction and gave everyone a chance to congratulate the clubs and people that have
made the YC experience.
From the awards,
Delta Chi Alpha won the
Highest Club Academics award, Kingsmen was given the Biggest Heart award (for donating the most
blood), Delta won the Women's All-Sports award, Kyodai
took
the Men's All-Sports award, and Kingsmen won the Club Service
award. Tim Lewis, Campus Minister and Golf
Coach was honored as the Staff
Member of the Year, and History Professor Dr. Shane
Mountjoy
was presented the Teacher of the Year
award.
President Baker once again
presented the awards of Mr. and Ms. York College to close out the banquet portion of the
evening. The faculty makes the selection for this award using leadership,
involvement, academic performance and personality as the criteria.
Jessica Agler, senior History major from Wayne, Nebraska, and
Cliff Mullen, senior Bible Studies (youth ministry) major from Liberty,
Missouri, were honored with YC's highest award.
The other candidates for Ms. YC were
Laura Armbrust - senior English major from Waukesha,
Wisconsin, Crystal Soderholm - senior Elementary Education major from York,
Nebraska, Megan Todd - senior English major from Lawrence, Kansas, and Erica
Towell - senior Biblical Studies major from Ogallala, Nebraska. Mr. YC candidates were
Dan Asperheim - senior English major from Duluth,
Minnesota, Kyle Gustafson - senior Business Administration major from
Lander, Wyoming, Mark Houston - senior English major from York, Nebraska,
and Matt Turvey - senior Mathematics major from Colby, Kansas.
Following the banquet, students were treated to a free concert on campus by
Accidental Genius, a band comprised of York College staff, faculty,
and graduates.
