Library
The Levitt Library at York College is well-equipped to provide ample information
services and resources to York College students, faculty, staff, and the community.
Our mission is to provide library resources and services that
support and enrich the curriculum as the College provides a quality liberal arts
education leading to an understanding and philosophy of life consistent with Christian
ideals. In pursuit of its mission, the goals of Levitt Library are:
- To promote learning through the academic program of the institution
- To select, acquire, organize, preserve, and provide access to collections in a
broad range of formats to correlate with the College’s institutional,
instructional, and individual needs, and when feasible, community needs
- To provide efficient dissemination of information through an online public
access catalog, an efficient circulation system, and to serve as a gateway to
information retrieval using current technologies
- To collaborate with faculty with respect to their information needs
- To help our students become information literate and responsible consumers of
information
- To encourage cultural, recreational, and personal enrichment for the College
and public communities as they pursue life-long learning in an information
technology based society
- To provide physical facilities and equipment conducive to learning, research,
and recreation
- To maintain strong working relationships with campus communities
- To evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the library program
