Kindergarten English Teacher: Annual tax-free starting salary of ¥3,000,000, PLUS benefits! (See below) The Kindergarten is open to four and five year olds. Classes are conducted in Japanese, aside from a 40 minute English lesson. The English teacher visits 4 different classes for 40 minutes each, teaching two classes of 4 year olds and two classes of 5 year olds. Classes are limited to 17-21 students. The children learn through songs, chants, short poems, memory work, games, stories, and some writing and phonics. Requirements: TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certification and/or a degree in Elementary or Early Childhood Education are preferred, but not necessary. It is also helpful to have a basic knowledge of Japanese. (See below) The Immersion English teacher will teach a kindergarten class of up to 16 children in a completely English environment. Outside of a 40 minute Japanese class, the children are immersed in English. The children learn through songs, chants, short poems, memory work, games, stories and some phonics and writing. Our curriculum is cutting edge and one of a kind. There is an interpreter available to assist the English teacher as needed. Due to the language barrier, the English teacher must be very sensitive to the needs of his/her students, and must be creative in communicating with them. Requirements: A four year degree in Elementary or Early Childhood Education is a must. A TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certification is preferred, but is not necessary. Friends Club English Teacher: Annual tax-free starting salary of ¥2,760,000 PLUS benefits! (See below) Friends Club is an after-school English club for elementary students who are graduates of MeySen Kindergarten. Each child attends the club three days a week, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders coming on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and 4th, 5th and 6th graders coming on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The English teacher is assigned a total of 4 different grade levels to be taught on alternating days, conducting two one-hour English classes per day, six days a week. Class size ranges from 20 to 25 students. Classes are taught using songs, stories, phonics reading, and games. In addition to English classes, there are a variety of other club activities including play time, pony riding, Bible Talk, parties, field trips, and camps. Requirements: A two or four year degree in any major is a must. It is not necessary that Friends Club Teachers have any knowledge of Japanese, as they are expected to speak to the children only in English. Friends Club Daily Job Description
