POSITION: Domestic Violence Program Specialist III - Victim

                  Advocate (Family Justice Cener/Sarpy Center)

                  (full-time 37.5 hours/week)

 

LOCATION: Heartland Family Service

                     

             

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Intense case management responsibilities begin at this level. Educational requirements are specific. Decision-making, problem solving and highly developed interpersonal skills are critical.

 

PREFERRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree in social sciences or related field
  • 2 years experience working with domestic violence services.
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Provides case management, crisis intervention and safety planning over the phone and in person   for victims of  domestic abuse.
  2. May assist probation with pre-sentence investigations and provide probation officers with written information.
  3. Provides follow up contact with the victim throughout the probationary period to provide information and assist with the supervision of the probationer.
  4. Assists in the filing of protection order applications and when requested and, as needed, accompany petitioners  to hearings
  5. Develop a close working collaborative relationship with the Batterer’s Intervention Program, victim services and the criminal justice system.
  6. Complies statistical data as required for the Family Justice Center, Heartland Family Service,and as required for grant reporting.
  7. Provide appropriate referrals and follow up on cases as needed.
  8. Cooperates and collaborates with program staff, volunteers, visitors to the agency and, the community at large.
  9. Demonstrates a high degree of crisis intervention skills while working with a caseload of a wide range of individuals.
  10. Displays a courteous and caring attitude at all times to the clientele, volunteers, agency staff and Community at large.
  11. Is dependable and punctual regarding scheduling.
  12. Abides by all specific program and agency policy and procedures.
  13. Develops personal and program related skills through participation in internal and external training opportunities including printed material and media.
  14. Performs other program duties as assigned.
