POSITION: Community Relations Assistant
(full-time 37.5 hours/week)

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Performs highly technical and skilled functions with specific training and aptitudes. Requires daily decision-making and public contact.
Very specific knowledge and experience required. Ability to work with a wide range of customers, meet deadlines, and conduct comprehensive specialized projects is critical.
PREFERRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree, preferred.
- High School Diploma required with 4 years experience.
- Need to have excellent computer skills and be detail oriented.
- Valid drivers license/ acceptable driving record.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Develops and directs the Student League Program and Junior Friends volunteer program.
- Assists in planning and organizing special events and projects as needed.
- Maintains records, enters data, and produces statistical reporting for Special events including event notebooks.
- Coordinates all volunteer activities throughout Heartland Family Service and develops policies and procedures to insure effectiveness and sufficient record keeping
- Provides administrative support for the Community Relations Department.
- Recruits volunteers for agency programs and cultivates relationships with community resources, colleges, businesses, etc.
- Provides orientation and training of volunteers as needed (evening and weekends may be required).
- Coordinates supervision of all volunteers with the program directors and, when appropriate, interns.
- Maintain accurate record of volunteer hours and prepares required reports.
- Responsible for communicating with volunteers on a consistent basis.
- Responsible for conducting surveys for volunteers annually to determine satisfaction, retention rates, etc.
- Displays a courteous and caring attitude at all times to the clientele, volunteers, and visitors of the agency.
- Is dependable and punctual regarding scheduling and attendance.
- Cooperates and collaborates with program area staff, volunteers, and other Agency staff.
- Abides by all specific program and Agency procedures, policies, and requirements.
- Develops personal and program related skills through participation in internal and external training opportunities including printed material and audio and/or visual media.
- Performs other program related duties as assigned.
