Community Relations Assistant

POSITION:          Community Relations Assistant

                            (full-time 37.5 hours/week)

 

LOCATION:         Heartland Family Service

                            2101 S. 42nd Street

                            Omaha, NE  68106

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF WORK:  

Performs highly technical and skilled functions with specific training and aptitudes.  Requires daily decision-making and public contact.

 

Very specific knowledge and experience required. Ability to work with a wide range of customers, meet deadlines, and conduct comprehensive specialized projects is critical. 

 

PREFERRED  MINIMUM  QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree, preferred.
  • High School Diploma required with 4 years experience.
  • Need to have excellent computer skills and be detail oriented.
  • Valid drivers license/ acceptable driving record.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Develops and directs the Student League Program and Junior Friends volunteer program.
  2. Assists in planning and organizing special events and projects as needed.
  3. Maintains records, enters data, and produces statistical reporting for Special events including event notebooks.
  4. Coordinates all volunteer activities throughout Heartland Family Service and develops policies and procedures to insure effectiveness and sufficient record keeping
  5. Provides administrative support for the Community Relations Department.
  6. Recruits volunteers for agency programs and cultivates relationships with community resources, colleges, businesses, etc.
  7. Provides orientation and training of volunteers as needed (evening and weekends may be required). 
  8. Coordinates supervision of all volunteers with the program directors and, when appropriate, interns.
  9. Maintain accurate record of volunteer hours and prepares required reports.
  10. Responsible for communicating with volunteers on a consistent basis.
  11. Responsible for conducting surveys for volunteers annually to determine satisfaction, retention rates, etc.
  12. Displays a courteous and caring attitude at all times to the clientele, volunteers, and visitors of the agency.
  13. Is dependable and punctual regarding scheduling and attendance.
  14. Cooperates and collaborates with program area staff, volunteers, and other Agency staff.
  15. Abides by all specific program and Agency procedures, policies, and requirements.
  16. Develops personal and program related skills through participation in internal and external training   opportunities including printed material and audio and/or visual media.
  17. Performs other program related duties as assigned.
