Message from the Director of Athletics
Thank you for your interest in York College and the Panther Athletic Programs. Established in 1890 in the heartland of America, York College unifies the academic and social elements of the college experience with an active and exciting athletic experience. As a four-year, co-educational, residential institution, York College aspires to build a diverse and inclusive campus community consistent with the teachings of New Testament Christianity.
With the new implementation of our developmental programs, at York College your priorities can help determine your athletic opportunities as well as scholarship opportunities. During the 2007-2008 academic year, York College will offer 7 NAIA varsity sports: baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, wrestling, with developmental programs and scholarships being created for the majority of these sports as well.
York College is also strongly committed to the NAIA’s Champions of Character initiative and the core values associated within that initiative that include: Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Servant Leadership, and Sportsmanship. Participation in intercollegiate athletics is seen in the relationship of developing whole persons, and as such is integrally related to the overall educational experience at York College. Intercollegiate athletics affords student-athletes the opportunity to develop character, leadership qualities, and responsible decision-making.
York College is a founding member of the Midlands Collegiate Athletics Conference (MCAC), which competes in Region IV of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Other member schools are Bellevue University (NE), College of St. Mary (NE), Peru State College (NE), Oklahoma Wesleyan University (OK), Central Christian College (KS), Park University (KS), Haskell Indian Nations University (KS), and College of the Ozarks (MO).
York College seeks to provide an equitable, diverse, and competitive intercollegiate athletic program that is properly administered, educationally sound, and a resource for enhancing the entire campus.
We hope you will take the time to learn more about us.
For the love of the game,
Chris Luther
