Transfer Students

Maybe you thought you wanted to go to a big university - and now know it is not your ideal environment. Perhaps you went too far from home the first time - or maybe not far enough. Or you might have had this planned from the very beginning, and have been pursuing your degree at a community college. Whatever your reasons for transferring, we are pleased you are considering York College.


At York College, we provide personal attention for every prospective student. See below for our easy admissions process:

Admissions Process for Transfer Students:

Step 1:  Apply For Admission-

Complete our FREE online application (Click Here). 

Step 2:  Submit Transcripts/Scores-

To complete your file York College must officially receive your:

  • High School Transcripts with Official graduation date posted.
  • ACT/SAT Scores (if available).
  • Transcripts from ALL Colleges Attended (this includes High School dual credit).

Step 3:  Acceptance-

York College Acceptance Policy::

NOTE:  Official Transcripts must come from each college attended.

  • 27 credit hours or less:

             1. High school Transcripts----------------Minimum of a 2.0 GPA

             2.                                             ----------------Minimum class rank of 50%

             3. ACT score (or SAT equivalent)--------Minimum score of 18

             4. Official College Transcript(s)----------Minimum of 1.6 GPA

(To be accepted unconditionally, must meet two of the first three requirements and meet requirement #4.)

  • 28-59 credit hours:

             1. High school Transcripts----------------Proof of Graduation

             2. Official College Transcript(s)--------- Minimum of 1.8 GPA

(To be accepted unconditionally, must meet both requirements .  High School transcript is evaluated if college GPA is below minimum requirements)

  • 60+ credit hours:

             1. High School Transcripts----------------Proof of Graduation

             2. Official College Transcript(s)--------- Minimum of 2.0 GPA

(To be accepted unconditionally, must meet both requirements.  High School transcript is evaluated if college GPA is below minimum requirements .)

Exceptions:

  • for those who take the GED, see the Home School Senior requirements.
  • A Non-traditional student will be required to submit his/her most recent transcript(s).
  • For anyone interested in participating in athletics, he/she must be unconditionally accepted and must abide by the "24 Hour" rule, which indicates that within the last two full-time consecutive semesters attempted, 24 credit hours MUST be completed with a passing grade.  (If only one college semester has been attempted, students must have passed 9 credit hours).
