Home School Students

Whether your home school program was accredited or individually designed, you will fit right in with York's small classes and nurturing faculty who are dedicated to educating you as a whole person. Like every prospective student you will need to provide documentation that shows your studies fulfill the College's high school course requirements.

Admission for Home School Graduates

Step 1:  Apply For Admission-

Click Here!  This link will refer you to the FREE online application available to all incoming students.  There is also a PDF copy of our application that can be printed off and submitted along with a $20.00 processing fee.

Step 2:  Submit Transcripts/Scores-

In order to complete your file York College will need to officially receive the following:

  • Your Home School Transcripts with Official Graduation Date Posted
  • ACT/SAT scores (if available).
  • Transcripts from ALL colleges attended (this includes High School dual credit).

Step 3:  Acceptance-

York College Acceptance Policy:

To be considered for acceptance, students must present the following information.  (Even if the specific requirements are met within each category, all official documents must be submitted before acceptance can occur.)

             1. High school Transcripts----------------Minimum of a 2.0 GPA

             2. Class rank-----------------------------Rank will be noted as 1 of 1

             3. ACT score (or SAT equivalent)--------Minimum score of 18

             4. Official College Transcript(s)----------Dual Credit (if applicable)

Note:  Home schoolers, and those taking the GED, MUST take the ACT or SAT to be considered for acceptance.  Passing GED equals 2.0 GPA.

(To be accepted unconditionally, must meet BOTH requirements and officially submit requirement #4 if applicable.)

Exceptions:

  • For those that take the GED, see the Home School Senior requirements.
  • A Non-traditional student will be required to submit his/her most recent transcript(s).
  • For anyone interested in participating in athletics, he/she must be unconditionally accepted and must abide by the "24 Hour" rule, which indicates that within the last two full-time consecutive semesters attempted, 24 credit hours MUST be completed with a passing grade.  (If only one college semester has been attempted, students must have passed 9 credit hours).
