History

The department offers the Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in History. Each degree program has three or four components: general education, the major, and electives. The department cooperates with the Department of Education to offer the Bachelor of Arts in History Education (7-12).

The Department of History introduces the student to a wide range of cultural achievement. Exposure to the currents and cross-currents of man’s social, religious, and intellectual experience enables students to appreciate the breadth of their cultural heritage. The department also provides cultural experiences for students which will enrich their personal lives, regardless of their professional goals. Courses in history are designed to help students see the interrelationships in all major areas of human thought and to develop within the student a continuing awareness of the richness and variety of human experience.
