Wayne Baker
President, York College

Wayne Baker

Dr. Wayne Baker has served as president of York College since September 1996. He came to York from Montgomery, Alabama, where he served in various administrative capacities at Faulkner University. During most of this time he preached for two area churches. He has also served at Rochester College in Rochester Hills, Michigan and Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.

Dr. Baker and his wife Darlene, parents of five and grandparents of six, are completing their twelfth year of service to York College and the York community. The most visible changes on the college campus since the beginning of Dr. Baker's presidency are the construction of the Phyllis Mackey Center (dining hall and student center), the Holthus Field House (an indoor sports practice facility), the newly restored Prayer Chapel which is open 24 hours a day to the public, and two new student apartment buildings, which opened for student occupancy in the fall of 2006. Dr. Baker worked with the community and others around the U.S. to raise $21 million for the College. He is an enthusiastic believer in the value of the individual and the potential of young people.

We are pleased to announce that for the school year 2008-09 there will be NO INCREASE in tuition, room and board or academic fees.  All costs will remain at the 2007-08 level.  Every effort is being made at York College to partner with families to make the life-changing Christian education privilege an affordable option for families around the world.
